This water quality report covers all testing conducted between January-December 2016. Testing performed by Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) follows federally mandated schedules. We're pleased to report NO violations of State or Federal Requirements among thousands of samples taken throughout the year. Both water treatment facilities earned the prestigious 2016 Gold Award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals for consistent regulatory compliance.

Water Source Information: Our system utilizes blended surface water from the Ocmulgee and Towaliga Rivers, both within the Upper Ocmulgee watershed. Together, our treatment facilities provide approximately 800 million gallons of clean water annually. The Ocmulgee headwaters originate in DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties, including the Alcovy, Yellow, and South Rivers from metropolitan Atlanta's eastern areas. These converge at Jackson Lake, with our intake positioned where the Ocmulgee flows from Jackson Lake dam in eastern Butts County.
The Emerson L. Burford plant processes Ocmulgee River water with a 4.0 million gallon daily capacity, providing 90% of system needs. The Towaliga watershed forms from streams in southern Henry and eastern Spalding Counties, with several upstream impoundments for Henry County's water supply. The City of Jackson's intake is on the Towaliga in western Butts County, feeding the Gerald L. "Buck" Stewart plant (1.0 million gallon daily capacity). Customers in southwestern Butts County (Chappell Mill Road, Fenner Road, and Brushy Creek subdivision) receive water purchased from the City of Griffin.
