Where Your Water Comes From

Your water primarily comes from the Colorado River via the Central Arizona Project (CAP), City of Phoenix infrastructure, and groundwater pumped from the Salt River Valley basin.

About Your CAP Water

Most of your water is Colorado River water delivered from Lake Havasu through the CAP Canal to Lake Pleasant. Your supply is a blend of Colorado River and Lake Pleasant water (which receives water from the Agua Fria River). This water travels to Anthem through an 8-mile pipeline from the CAP Canal to the Anthem Water Treatment Plant, a state-of-the-art microfiltration facility designed to meet current and future quality requirements.

The City of Phoenix Connection

The interconnection with Phoenix is provided through the Union Hills Water Treatment Plant and/or the Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant, both receiving and treating water from the CAP Canal.

Groundwater Information

Two wells supply groundwater pumped from the Salt River Valley basin. This groundwater is recharged naturally from stream flows and mountain fronts, incidentally from agricultural and urban uses, and intentionally at designated recharge facilities.

1. Q: Will the City collect debris related to contractor work on my property?
   A: No. Materials generated by contractors are specifically excluded from municipal collection. This includes construction waste, roofing materials, trees, landscaping materials, or other waste. You or your contractor will need to make alternative disposal arrangements.
2. Q: How can I dispose of construction and demolition waste during home renovations?
   A: The Sanitation Division offers 10-cubic-yard roll-off Dumpsters that residents can rent for large debris disposal.
3. Q: What options exist for disposing of large items that don't fit in regular waste containers?
   A: The Sanitation Division operates a bulky item pickup service for furniture, appliances, electronics, tree limbs, and other large items. A small fee applies and will appear on your next utility bill. Contact them at least one day before your next collection day to schedule. The City also provides up to two free landfill coupons annually for eligible residents who can transport items to the Harvey County Transfer Station.
4. Q: How do I file a complaint about water service or quality?
   A: Complaints can be submitted by delivering a written statement, signed by the complainant, to the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, or any Lieutenant or Sergeant with the department. No person will face discrimination or retribution for filing such complaints.
5. Q: How can I access the online application system if I don't have internet access?
   A: Within Newton, free internet access is available at the HR Department in City Hall, the Newton Public Library, and the Workforce Development Center.

   A: You can contact the Human Resource Department if you haven't received notification after submitting your application.
