1. I just moved into your district, how do I set up water services?
   You or your spouse (if married) need to visit the District office to sign a "User Agreement" and provide a security deposit for your account. If you cannot come in person, you may arrange for someone to sign on your behalf.
2. What if I have a repair to make on my water pipes inside my home?
   All C-1 customers must have a functional shut-off valve on the main water line entering the home. This valve is typically located in the basement or utility closet. Simply close the valve and proceed with your repairs.
3. Why is my water bill so high this month?
   There could be several reasons including: a leak in your service line, a leaking toilet, a dripping faucet, or an outdoor hose bib running unnoticed.
4. How could a leaking toilet cost so much?
   A faulty toilet seal can waste up to 1,440 gallons per day or approximately 43,200 gallons per month!
5. Why is my water pressure so low/high?
   Most likely there's an issue with your Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) in your home. When a PRV malfunctions, it can become stuck fully open or closed.
6. When are Board of Directors Meetings held?
   Our Board meets at 5:30 PM on the second Monday of each month at the District Office. These meetings are open to the public.
7. How and when should I water my lawn?
   Water your lawn for longer periods a few times weekly rather than daily for optimal results. This ensures deep root penetration. An inch of water weekly is recommended. Watering early morning helps avoid excessive evaporation.
8. I've seen work crews cleaning water mains and the hydrant water looks dirty. Is the water safe?
   Most water pipes develop a thin film of rust and harmless microbes inside. Our regular flushing and maintenance program ensures pipes remain clean. If you observe the crews, you'll notice the water clears after a few minutes of flushing.
9. Why are some municipal water tanks elevated high off the ground?
   Elevated storage provides consistent water pressure for firefighting even during power outages. It also supplies additional water during peak usage hours. These tanks refill overnight when demand is lowest.
10. How long can I store municipal water?
    Water can be stored indefinitely in sealed plastic or glass containers. However, taste may become flat after extended storage, so replacement every 6 months is recommended.
11. Is it safe to use hot tap water for cooking or baby formula?
    No. Always use cold water. Hot water may contain higher levels of rust, copper, and lead from your plumbing and water heater, as these contaminants dissolve more quickly in hot water.
12. Does my Backflow Prevention Device require annual testing?
    Yes. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR Rule 10CSR60-11) 010 mandates annual testing by a DNR Certified Tester with documentation provided to your Public Water Supplier. Most customers schedule testing when activating or winterizing irrigation systems.
